    IMTI Student Self-Application

    If you are a student registering for an IMTI class, and an employer or other third party is not responsible for paying for your training class, please fill out the following information to begin the IMTI student application process:


    Student Information

    Please submit your name and contact information and an IMTI Recruiting Manager will contact you within 24 hours to introduce you to a new career in the intermodal industry.

    As preparation, please download the IMTI Student Application and Handbook.  The IMTI team will review these materials with you in your introductory meeting.

    IMTI Applications, signed Handbook policies, and required screenings must be completed by the Student, and approved by IMTI, prior to training. 

    Students may submit the signed application and materials in the following ways:
    • Upload using the Student Application Upload below
    • Email:  Admin@IntermodalMechanics.com
    • Mail:  IMTI | 6880 River Road, Suite 3 | Hodgkins, IL | 60525

    ​Students should bring a signed copy of the materials to the first day of class. 

    Students should arrive to IMTI training with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
    • Safety vest
    • Hard hat
    • Safety goggles
    • Hearing protection
    • Steel-toed boots   
    IMTI can provide these items, if needed.

    Student Resume

    IMTI can help you find a new career as an intermodal mechanic.  Our employer clients are ready to receive your resume and may help sponsor your IMTI tuition at no cost to you.  If you wish, you may use the IMTI resume template to let us know more about you.  This is not required.  An IMTI Recruiting Manager can also assist you with developing your resume.

Weeks 1-3 | IMTI Full Immersion Training Program

Continuing Education:

Week 2 | Electrical Module provides Lite-Check training and Truck-Lite Certification

Week 2 | Tires, Wheels & Rims Module provides Tire Industry Association (TIA) Certification

Week 3 | Brakes Module provides STEMCO Certification and wheel end qualification to ATA TMC recommended practices

​Week 3 | FMCSA Inspection Procedures

For more experienced mechanics, the above modules can be attended independently and in any combination to sharpen skills, refocus on proper procedures and ensure ongoing safety and regulatory compliance.
